Meter Transceiver Units (MXU's)

The Meter Transceiver Unit (MXU) is a radio signal device which permits off-site meter reading via radio signals. The MXU interfaces any compatible absolute encoder equipped utility meter with a interrogation device. The MXU is used for both inside and pit-set utility meter installations to provide safe, off-site meter reading.

MXU’s offer several installation options; pit, non-pit, single port and dual port. They typically have a 20-year battery life and the batteries are field replaceable. MXU’s are completely encased in High Density Polyethylene making them weatherproof. MXU’s can be programmed with interval data and leak detection giving the meter readers a tool to examine and monitor customer trends. All MXU’s support manual reads as a backup in case of mass failure.

The Utilities division is actively upgrading their infrastructure, including installing MXU's onto existing water meters in the system.
