Criminal records must be requested through the State of Montana; call (406) 444-3625.
This is done through the mail, to the State of Montana, Motor Vehicle Division. P.O. Box 201430, Helena, MT 59620-1430. You must enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope and a processing fee.
An individual must contact the prosecuting attorney's office and request a copy. It is the prosecutor's discretion as to what is released, when, and to whom.

Call the Great Falls Police Department non-emergency line at 406-455-8599 to make a report. Please be ready to provide the nature of the complaint, the location of the vehicle, and specific vehicle description information (make, model, color, license plate). Within approximately 14 days of the initial report, Great Falls Police Department volunteers will investigate your complaint and take appropriate enforcement action. Depending on the type of vehicle, if a vehicle owner does not bring the vehicle into compliance it may be towed, after the proper protocols, mandatory notices, and waiting periods have been satisfied. It typically takes up to 5 weeks before a vehicle is towed.
It may take up to 5 weeks before a vehicle is towed, and not all complaints result in a vehicle being towed. Once Great Falls Police Department volunteers place a sticker on a vehicle, the Great Falls Police Department must adhere to the proper processes, including issuing mandatory notices and waiting periods. If someone standing 50 feet from the vehicle can hear or feel vibrations from a car's sound equipment, the owner is in violation of the car stereo noise ordinance.
The Police Department does VIN inspections on Wednesdays from 11 am to 3 pm. The Drivers License Office does inspections daily.
Curfew applies to people under the age of 18. Curfew starts at 11 pm Sunday through Thursday and ends at 6 am the following day. Weekend curfew hours are from 12:01 am - 6:00 am Saturday and Sunday. People subject to the curfew should not be out during curfew hours. Unless accompanied by a responsible adult -- parent/guardian or someone approved by the parent/guardian.

If you are interested in issues that are occurring with in your neighborhood, it is good idea to attend the Neighborhood Council meetings in your area. The GFPPA is an association made up of sworn officers of the Police Department. The GFPPA sponsors youth teams and performs community fundraisers throughout the year. The GFPPA also represents the sworn officers during contract negotiations with the City of Great Falls.
Per City Ordinance a False Alarm means, "An alarm signal actuated by error, mistake, inadvertence, negligence, or unintentional act necessitating response by the public safety personnel, including but not limited to Great Falls Police Department, Great Falls Fire Rescue, and/or ambulance services, including alarms caused by the malfunction of the alarm system, except the following:
- alarms caused by repair of telephone or communication equipment or lines;
- alarms caused by earthquakes, flood, windstorm, thunder, and lightning;
- alarms caused by an attempted illegal entry or analogous causes of which there is visible evidence;
- and alarms caused by power outages.
5.3.6.050 Penalty.
A. Knowingly activating a false alarm when no unauthorized entry, fire or hazardous conditions exist is a violation of the provisions of Mont. Code Ann. 45-7-204, punishable by a fine not to exceed five hundred dollars ($500.00) or imprisonment for a term not to exceed six (6) months, or both.
B. A first or second false alarm during any three hundred sixty-five (365) day period will result in a written notice being provided to the owner, licensee and/or other person responsible for the premises. A third or subsequent false alarm during any three hundred sixty-five (365) day period will result in an assessed administrative fee of one hundred dollars ($100.00) being imposed on the owner, licensee, and/or other person responsible for the premises.
C. Any fee under this article that remains unpaid for thirty (30) days or more is deemed delinquent and may be assessed against the premises as a special charge for current service or, in addition to any penalties listed in this Chapter, the City may refer any outstanding fees, pursuant to this Chapter, to collections by a collection agency authorized to conduct business in Montana.
D. This penalty section shall not be applicable to residential fire alarms in one or two-family
