DATE: August 4, 2025 ROAD CLOSURE - 5 TH ST S/9TH TO 10TH AVE S Great Falls, Montana – The City of Great Falls has contracted with Boland Construction to install new storm drain pipes and inlets along 5th Street South between 9th Avenue South and 11th Alley South. Beginning Monday, August 4, 2025, 5th Street South will be closed from 9th Avenue South to 10th Avenue South for several weeks. The storm drain project is expected to take approximately three months to complete. Construction will take place in three phases:
Traffic impacts will be minimal. General vehicle traffic on 10th Avenue South will remain open except for the north lane of westbound traffic, which will be closed during Phases 2 and 3. Temporary traffic controls will be in place to guide drivers and ensure safety for both motorists and pedestrians. Travelers are encouraged to slow down and use caution in the work zone. CITY OF GREAT FALLS, MONTANA PRESS RELEASE DATE: September 29, 2025 DOWNTOWN DRAINAGE INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECT UPDATE: Great Falls, Montana – The City of Great Falls has a contract with Capcon, LLC to complete storm drain, water main, and street improvements in the downtown area. This project impacts 1st Ave S from 3rd St S to 5th St S, and 3rd St S from Central Ave to 2nd Ave S. To minimize disruption, construction is being phased. Starting Tuesday, September 30th, the intersection of 1st Ave S and 5th St S, along with 1 st Ave S from 5 th St S to 6th St S, will be closed for eight weeks. 1 st Ave S will also remain closed between 3 rd St S and 4 th St S, and between 4 th St S and 5 th St S. Portions of 1st Ave S will reopen in October as work progresses. Capcon, LLC will install barricades and detour signs to guide traffic safely around the construction zones. Access to local businesses will remain open throughout the project. CITY OF GREAT FALLS, MONTANA DATE: September 30, 2025 Beginning October 1st , Road Closure for Water Main Replacement Project: 13th St NW/5 th Ave NW to 3 rd Ave NW Great Falls, Montana – The City of Great Falls has a contract with Central Plumbing, Heating, Excavation to replace water mains along 13th St NW, between 5th Ave NW and Central Ave W. The project is scheduled to take approximately two months, spanning October and November. Work will begin at 5th Ave NW and progress south toward Central Ave W. Starting Wednesday, October 1 st , 13th St NW will be closed between 5th Ave NW and 3rd Ave NW for two months to accommodate water main replacement. Additionally, 13th St NW between 3rd Ave NW and Central Ave W will be closed October 2nd – 3 rd for asphalt milling operations. Central Plumbing, Heating, Excavation will install barricades and detour signage to guide traffic safely around the construction zone. Access to residences, West Elementary, and local businesses will remain available.
