City staff is working closely with Montana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) staff to remedy this situation as quickly as possible. A methodical approach to hydrant flushing in the affected the area is ongoing. Residents will see a lot of water in the streets and possibly in yards as various hydrants are flushed in the area of the main break. Daily sample collection at various locations throughout the area of the break will continue until the order is lifted. All water samples collected to date are within DEQ’s acceptable levels for drinking water, including negative results for bacterial testing.
Water restrictions for the affected area will be lifted on Saturday, July 27, 2024. Thank you to all the residents who reduced their water consumption during this time. It was very helpful to reducing stress on the water utility system.
