GROWTH POLICY FIRST DRAFT

Great Falls, Montana – The Planning and Community Development Department is releasing the first draft of its updated Growth Policy. The draft document will be available for public review starting January 12th, 2026, and the community is encouraged to share their feedback and participate in upcoming open house events.

The Growth Policy serves as the City’s guiding framework for future growth and development. It addresses key topics such as land use, housing, transportation, public infrastructure, economic development, and community character. State law requires communities to adopt and periodically update growth policies to reflect changing conditions, priorities, and opportunities.

To support public engagement, the City will host a series of open house meetings where community members can learn more about the draft Growth Policy, ask questions, and provide comments directly to City staff. Open houses are scheduled for:

  • January 12th, 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM, Gibson Room (Civic Center)
  • January 14th, 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM, Gibson Room (Civic Center)
  • January 15th, 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM, Gibson Room (Civic Center)

The draft Growth Policy will also be available online at futuregreatfalls.com, where community members can review the document and submit comments electronically. The City encourages everyone to participate and help shape the future of Great Falls.
