Handicap Parking

Handicap Parking Sign City of Great Falls Montana

Vehicles parked in "Handicap" parking spaces must display the proper license plate or handicapped placard.

On-Street:

Handicapped citizens are not required to comply with the two-hour time limit or pay for on-street handicap parking spaces. Signs at these spaces are colored in the distinctive blue associated with the Americans with Disabilities Act standards. In order to provide an adequate supply of on-street parking for the mobility impaired in the central business district, the City has provided some twenty-five handicap parking spaces. There is typically one handicap stall on each side of the street or avenue within the core of the Meter District. These spaces have blue painted meters and an international handicap sign attached to the meter pole.

Off-Street:

Handicapped citizens are required to pay for off-street handicap parking spaces. All City-owned off-street parking facilities meet the Americans with Disabilities Act Federal regulation standards. The standards establish a minimum number of parking spaces to be designated for mobility-impaired persons.

Applications for handicapped placards may be obtained at the Planning and Community Development Department, Room 112 in the Civic Center (phone: 406-455-8430) 8:00 a.m., to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday; or click on this link: MVD Disability Permit/License Plate Application.
