PARK AND RECREATION EVENTS: GIVING TUESDAY & WINTER CAMP

Great Falls, Montana – Tuesday, December 2nd, is Giving Tuesday, and there’s no better gift than a new tree in Gibson Park. The Roots Revival group within the Gibson Park Committee is collecting donations to replant the final seven trees in the Gibson Park canopy. Several trees had to be removed in the park last year due to age and storm damage. The committee has worked with the City Forester and City Parks Manager on selecting a variety of trees that offer optimal canopy coverage, beautiful fall colors, have drought tolerance, and are able to withstand the drastic changes in temperature that occur in Great Falls.

The cost of planting a tree in Gibson Park ranges from $495 -$770, which includes planting. The list of potential park trees and prices, along with directions on how to donate, is available at the Great Falls Park and Recreation website. The Park and Recreation Department’s Director, Jessica Compton, may also be contacted by phone for questions at (406)-771-1265.

Also, registration for Winter Camp at Great Falls Aquatic and Recreation Center is now open online! Camp is available to grades K-5, is $40 per day, runs from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm, and will be held on December 22nd, 23rd, 29th, 30th and January 2nd.
