LION’S FAMILY FUNFEST
Great Falls, Montana – The Annual Lion’s Family FunFest is Saturday, August 9, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Lions Park, located at 10th Avenue South and 27th Street. The event is being hosted by the Great Falls Lions Clubs and Great Falls Park and Recreation.
The event is FREE to all participants thanks to the generosity of the Lions Clubs in Great Falls (Great Falls Lions Club and Sunrise Lions) and numerous local donors. It is the perfect event for families, neighbors, and friends to gather for a day filled with fun, food, entertainment, and celebration, with a special appearance by Louie the Lion, the Lions Club mascot.
Activities will include:
- Music by DJ Jim Sargent
- Children’s Games and Activities
- Prizes for every child
- Three Jolly Jumpers
- Drawings
- Giveaways include bicycles, tricycles, scooters, various sporting equipment such as footballs and soccer balls, and other miscellaneous items.
- Food (nominal fee)

In addition to the Lions Clubs, the generous donations of the following sponsors help provide the free family-oriented festival: Montana Federal Credit Union, Scheels, Sletten Construction, FICO, Pepsi, Schnider Funeral Home, O’Connor Funeral Home, and Strobel’s Rental.
The Great Falls Lions Club has worked for many years to raise funds for improvements to Lions Park. Those improvements include:
- Providing $10,000, along with a matching grant of $10,000 from the Park Trust Fund, to build a paved parking lot leading to the Lions Park shelter facility in 1999
- Purchasing nearly 30 memorial trees for Lions members planted by Park and Recreation
- Doing general clean up in Lions Park
- Raising $42,000 to purchase and install a new play structure at Lions Park in 2007. The club and members donated over $10,000 towards the total amount.
- Raising over $30,000 for the unique climbing boulder
- Raising $3,200 for the new lion drinking fountain
