City of Great Falls Prepares for Semi-Annual Budget Review at the January 16th City Commission Work Session
The City of Great Falls is preparing for its semi-annual budget review, scheduled for the City Commission Work Session on Tuesday, January 16, 2024. This session will summarize the city's financial performance, with an emphasis on the General Fund, and offer a glimpse into the projected outlook for the remainder of the fiscal year. "Open communication and transparent budgeting are paramount to our commitment as city leaders," says Melissa Kinzler, Finance Director. "This semi-annual review provides an important opportunity for Finance staff to update the City Commission, residents, and stakeholders on the Fiscal Year 2023 results and what has occurred in the first half of fiscal year 2024."
During the work session, City staff will present an overview of the city's budget, including:
- Revenue and expenditure trends: Summary of income sources and financial commitments made so far in the fiscal year.
- Major budget variances: Highlight any significant deviations from projections and explain the underlying reasons.
- Fund review: Discuss funds needing attention.
