The important thing to understand is that saving all the cats means finding the right outcome for every cat, even if that means never taking them to the shelter. The Million Cat Challenge is a national project to help save the lives of cats across the nation. This life-saving campaign has over 6 years of documented success through their 5 key initiatives. GFAS has taken steps to successfully implement these initiatives and will continue to work to find the right outcome for all the cats.
To learn more about the 5 key initiatives and what GFAS has done on each of them, visit the GFAS Million Cat Challenge page.

In September of 2020, in conjunction with Malmstrom Air Force Base, the City of Great Falls was awarded a $10 million dollar Department of Defense Community Infrastructure Program (DCIP) grant to fund a new Recreation Center. The new facility will cost $20 million dollars. The City will match the $10 million dollar grant by bonding to use a portion of the Park District Number 1 assessments. Construction of the new facility will begin in September of 2021 and the construction timeline estimates completion of the facility by the Spring 2024.

A meter transceiver is 1 of 3 components of Automated Meter Reading (AMR) equipment in the water meter box:
An electronic register that is physically attached to the water meter;
A meter transponder that is connected via wire to the electronic register; and
A vehicle transceiver in the meter reader's drive-by vehicle.
As a meter reader's vehicle equipped with a transceiver drives along a meter-reading route, the transceiver sends a radio signal to meter transceiver within range to notify them to transmit, via radio signal, meter reads back to the transceiver. The meter transceiver gets the reading from the electronic register and sends it back via radio signal, to the transceiver where it is collected for bill processing.
