The City of Great Falls Animal Shelter understands that owning a pet can be difficult and expensive. Our goal is to make sure owners have the resources they need to be educated and responsible pet owners while navigating through some of the challenges. In this section we will provide information to help owners confidently face the challenges of pet ownership.
Being a responsible pet owner means knowing and understanding the legal responsibilities of owning a pet. In Great Falls we are governed by three sets of ordinances:

By far, the most expensive part of pet ownership is the animals vet care. Just like humans, animals require basic routine care from vaccinations to a regular check up. They sometimes need emergency care or develop diseases that need ongoing treatment. Planning ahead and knowing your options can make these vet related costs much easier to navigate.
