Charles V. Anderson - Deputy City Manager

Charles V. Anderson

Charles V. Anderson has served as the Deputy City Manager for Great Falls since Feb 13, 2017.    He is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations of the City and enforces the policies adopted by the Mayor and four City Commissioners.  Additionally, he directly supervises the City Clerk, Information Technology, Animal Shelter, Neighborhood Council, and Mansfield Events divisions.  Anderson brings decades of experience in leadership, government, and management to the City of Great Falls.

Before being hired, Chuck served five-years as the Public Works Director for the City of Steamboat Springs, Colorado.  Under his leadership, the Public Works department led the effort that took a$11.4M decades old downtown improvements plan to construction, and secured a critically needed $3.2M dedicated funding source for the Transit division, a first since that division was formed in 1981.  In addition, his team successfully forged a community partnership, and turned a Stormwater Task Force concept into reality, delivering an on-time, fully executable and funded action plan.

Prior to being the Public Works Director, Chuck spent 27-years in the United States Air Force and was stationed and deployed to 17 different bases and locations worldwide.  During his career, he served as a Human Resources technician and supervisor, First Sergeant, and an Information Technology Manager.  In his last two assignments, he served as the Command Chief Master Sergeant at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia and Malmstrom Air Force Base, Montana.  In those capacities, he served as the Executive Advisor to each Commander, establishing 1 of only 13 joint bases in the DOD and overseeing the activities of the nation’s largest intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) base.

Originally from the Bronx, New York, Chuck has continually strived for self-improvement, and holds several certifications in Project, Information Technology, and Human Resource Management.  He has attended numerous training venues at the National Defense University, Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia and the Center for Creative Leadership in Greensboro, NC.  He has also been awarded three associates degrees from the Community College of the Air Force, graduated summa cum laude from Troy University in 1998 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Resource Management, and in 2011 earned a Masters of Business Administration degree from the University of Mary.

Chuck is married to the former Wendy Schwartz of Scituate, Massachusetts and they have six phenomenal children.  They spend their spare time hiking in the mountains, sitting along Belt Creek, cross-country skiing, hunting, and floating the Missouri River.
