Website Privacy Policy
This privacy policy discloses the privacy practices for the greatfallsmt.net Internet domain, which is operated by the City of Great Falls. This privacy policy applies solely to information collected by websites in this domain. It will notify you of the following:
- What personally identifiable information is collected from you through the website, how it is used and with whom it may be shared.
- What choices are available to you regarding the use of your data.
- The security procedures in place to prevent the misuse of your information.
- How you can correct any inaccuracies in the information.
Information Collection, Use, and Sharing
We will not sell or rent information collected on our domains to anyone.
General information about your computer that is transferred in the standard operation of the Internet is retained in the logs of our websites, but no effort is made to associate this information with any individual.
If you send the City e-mail or provide information to one of the website's forms that contains personally identifiable information, the City will use that information to respond to you. The City may also forward that e-mail internally or to another government agency that can more appropriately fulfill your request, e.g. answer a question, address a concern, etc. Certain e-mails may constitute a public record and be subject to disclosure under state law.
Top Level Domain (greatfallsmt.net)
The main site also allows you to subscribe to newsletters and/or notifications of site updates. You may voluntarily subscribe and unsubscribe to these notifications at any time.
- We cannot access the email address that you provide for Website Update Notifications.
- We do maintain the list of newsletter subscribers. We will manually update this list ONLY when an email server rejects two (2) consecutive newsletters for a particular email address. Such an email account will be inactivated, but not deleted, from the newsletter list.
Sub Domains
The websites hosted on sub-domains of greatfallsmt.net allow you to make utility (water/sewer) payments, pay parking tickets, purchase Mansfield Center Events tickets, and register for Park and Recreation programs or golf tee times.
For sites that allow you to make payments, please note:
- The actual payment is taken through a third-party payment system that has represented itself to be PCI compliant.
- Your actual card data is not stored on the City's servers.
- We will not sell or rent information collected through our websites, or returned to us from the third-party payment gateway, to anyone.
Please be advised: utility information contains public information and may be subject to public records requests.
Unless you ask us not to, we may contact you via email in the future to tell you about new services or changes to this privacy policy.
Your Access to and Control Over Information
Once you have created your account on the Utility Payment site, you will have access to the information we have stored about you. If you feel there has been an error in your information, you must contact Utility Customer Service at 406-727-7660.
Contact the City Clerk's Office to see any other website data we have about you, if any, and to find out who to contact if there is an error in that data.
Security
We take precautions to protect your information. We do not ask for sensitive data through web-forms on the main website. Any required sensitive data is collected through an encrypted sub-domain (or a PCI compliant payment gateway) or a print, scan and send-back PDF form. Note: you can verify site encryption by looking for a closed lock icon at the bottom of your web browser, or looking for "https" at the beginning of the address of the web page. We do not store credit card numbers sent through the sub-domains of the website or the PCI compliant payment gateways.
While we use encryption to protect sensitive information transmitted online, we also protect your information offline. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job are granted access to personally identifiable information. The computers/servers in which we store personally identifiable information are kept in a secure environment. The City endeavors to remove (redact) private personally identifiable information when responding to public record requests.
