I’m not one to usually do this but I feel it super necessary! Myself and my friends are SOOO excited about the free splash pad at lions park. We went today and the kids really enjoyed it (ages 2 and 3) however we were met with a lot of concern for the safety of our children while there and i feel it’d be very beneficial to have a giant rule board posted at the pad. There are a few children there around 8-9 years old (which i understand is going to be the case) but they were aggressive children. Sprinting on the concrete (almost knocked a small child down), climbing and standing on the equipment and then pulling and pushing each other off. They left their shoes in the middle of the pad and caused another child to fall and cry. They were eating chips and dropping them all over the pad which led to wet soggy chips on everyone’s feet. They had no parental supervision. I would hate for kids like this to ruin the fun for everyone and break equipment or better yet their skull when they fall off from standing on the equipment. I know a rule board can’t help much when it’s free play but just so you’re aware!!

Hi Darby,

Thank you for letting us know about your experience at the new splash pad at Lions Park. Thank you for your suggestion on having a rule board posted, and your right, it might not solve all the problems but it might help. I have passed your message along to the Recreational Manager to also read. Thanks again!
