Dumping On Property
Hello! First, I just want to say I appreciate your work and what you do for the community in what I’m sure is a thankless job.
To begin, we have had a big issue with people dumping in our yard by the dumpsters in the alley. We live at 3409 5th Ave N, Great Falls, MT 59401. Our yard is mostly fenced, except a few square feet in the alley by the entrance to our garage. Two black dumpsters sit in our alley way directly bordering our grass. To get to the point, people place their trash in our yard when the dumpsters are full, large items that won’t fit in the dumpsters, and now there is even a chest freezer sitting back there with spoiled food (that smells rancid). We have tried to move the dumpsters further into the alley, and not in our grass, and they get moved back into our yard. We have moved the chest freezer away from our house, but they have moved it back in front of our garage by the dumpsters. We know that appliances are not taken by the weekly garbage truck, but apparently one of our neighbors did not get that message, and now it is just sitting and rotting in front of our garage. Trash is constantly spread a crossed our backyard due to the wind and people leaving it just sitting next to the dumpsters and not secured. We have had nails, spoiled food, dirty diapers, and other various items sitting in our grass. Frankly, it’s gross. Sometimes, the trash even gets so piled that it blocks the entrance to our garage.
Anyways, enough of my complaining, I’m sure you deal with this scenario daily. I am just curious as to what the best course of action is. Could we request the dumpsters just be removed from the area entirely? Should we set-up a camera and contact the police about serving trespassing notices? I don’t want to get anyone it trouble, I just want to not have to pick-up after others to use my yard.
