Brought my daughters to visit Great Falls from Canada. I was last here in 1997 so we were excited to visit and shop. We stayed at a lovely hotel Arvon and enjoyed the downtown vibe until we walked by Jacks Pet Shop on Main Street. My daughter who works at a veterinarian clinic had tears and could not enter at the site of larger puppies in fish tanks. In this time of awareness of animal cruelty and care. We can’t believe the city allows a business to be open that carries on. Look at the google reviews this has been going on for years. We remember when West Edmonton Mall pet store was closed for violations. They looked amazing compared ymm on this place. Improve your city and take action! No need to follow up with me as I am a visitor.

Ms. Patteri,

We have received several complaints over the years and this business has been investigated multiple times from various agencies including the City's Animal Control Officers, USDA and Fish Wildlife and Parks, and the City's Fire Department for Building safety.  Each time they are investigated they are in compliance or work towards compliance with each of these entities.

Below is what you would need to do if you would like to proceed.  Thanks, Krista

What can I do when I think I’ve observed animal cruelty?

  • Advise Great Falls Police Department of the specific complaint by either walking in to the GFPD or by calling the GFPD non-emergency 911 number (406) 455-8599.
    • Please note that concerned citizens cannot submit complaints on social media and/or city emails as they cannot be used to effectively prosecute violators.
    • Complainants must use the process required by GFPD and the City Attorney’s Office.
  • File a written and signed statement/complaint and submit any pictures of the alleged violation.
  • The GFPD ACO’s will investigate and the City Attorney’s Office will review any evidence to determine if the complaint should be prosecuted under the law.
  • Complainants need to be available to testify in person and in court about what they witnessed and/or observed.
  • A Court of competent jurisdiction may hear the case, unless it is resolved through the City Attorney’s Office.
