Mail Delivery Denial

Status: Closed
Assigned To: lklasner (Neighborhood Councils)
Ticket ID: 29135caac

Our neighborhood is unable to receive our mail. When we contacted the post office we were told that the household that owns the house in front of our neighborhood mail drop ( 28th avenue south in Castle Pines addition) has parked two vehicles, which are never moved , in front of the spot in which the carrier must park to deliver the mail. We were told that when the carrier approached the home owner to discuss the matter, that he was threatened. The post office said that we must file a complaint as residents to the city to get the matter resolved. I am currently disabled and unable to travel to the post office to pick up mail that they are holding. We aren't sure who to contact to get this matter resolved as our neighborhood is filled with vehicles parked on the street that never move. Thank you

Mr. Gratz:

Your neighbor is in violation of the Abandoned/Junk Vehicle Ordinance. Call the Great Falls Police Department non-emergency line at 406-455-8599 to make an abandoned vehicle report. Please be ready to provide the nature of the complaint, the location of the vehicle, and specific vehicle description information (make, model, color, license plate). Within approximately 14 days of the initial report, Great Falls Police Department volunteers will investigate your complaint and take appropriate enforcement action. Depending on the type of vehicle, if a vehicle owner does not bring the vehicle into compliance it may be towed, after the proper protocols, mandatory notices, and waiting periods have been satisfied. It typically takes up to 5 weeks before a vehicle is towed.
