Hello,

I was wondering if your open neighborhood council position can be filled by someone who does not live in the district but we are part of an unincorporated enclave surrounded by district 6. Part of my interest in the position would be a possibility of amending this area to the city

Thank you for your interest in the Neighborhood Councils. Unfortunately, the City Charter requires that council members live within the district boundaries. City Charter Link: https://library.municode.com/mt/great_falls_/codes/code_of_ordinances?no...

To amend the charter as provided by Montana law would require a majority of the qualified electors of the City of Great Falls to vote on the amendment's passage. If you want to pursue this route, you will need to put this before the City Commission. They would determine if they wish to put it on the ballot at the next general election.
