Hello. There is a huge piece of sidewalk missing/degraded on the public sidewalk area in front of my wife and I’s house at 3012 2nd Ave S. We would like to see about getting this part of the sidewalk fixed since it is public access and not directly on our property.

Hi Alex,

Yes, that would still be up to the property owner to repair per the city code.  If you would like I can send an inspector out to take a look at it and see what, if anything, would need to be done.

No problem, thanks for the update. So the piece of sidewalk I’m talking about is by the street, and it’s a public sidewalk, but it is in front of my house. So even though it’s public, I will still need to fix it myself?

Hello Alex,

I'm not sure how the ticket was closed after my response so I apologize for that.  I will repost the comment made on 4/18/2022.

"I apologize for the delayed response as I was not made aware that you had an issue with your sidewalk until just today.  Per city code 12.10.070 any repairs on residential sidewalks would actually be the property owners duty to fix.  We can send out a concrete inspector to assess the sidewalk and if it is indeed a health and safety risk the concrete will need to be fixed.  Please let us know if you would like us to dispatch an inspector to look at the sidewalk for you.  If you have any questions or concerns we would be happy to help.  Please call the engineering office at 406-771-1258 for further assistance in this matter."
