Hello,

I live on Alpine Drive in Great Falls and there is a abandoned house that should be sold by now and it is falling apart. Can you direct me on who to contact or can you give me some information on why the bank who owns it now has not auctioned it off yet. It has to be close to 5 to 8 years since someone has lived in it. The address is 1213 Alpine Drive

Carey – I just spoke with our Code Enforcement Officer, Heather Rolff. She explained to me that if there is exterior deterioration that is visible from the outside, your best course of action would be to fill out a Citizen Complaint form that you can find here, and be sure to be specific with details when filling out the form. She said if the building is just vacant and boarded up there isn’t really much she can do to help, as there are no City codes that prevent a building from being vacant or boarded up, and in that situation you would likely have to track down the institution that has possession of the residence.

I hope this gives you some direction and if you have any more questions feel free to give myself or Heather (455-8574) a call.
