Dear Great Falls PD,

I hope you’re doing well. My name is Alec Cowan and I'm a producer for a true-crime podcast called Small Town Dicks, hosted by two detectives named Dan and Dave and actress Yeardley Smith.

A little about us. Our podcast explores the cases small-town and rural police solve as part of their everyday jobs. Dan and Dave both have over a decade of experience tackling complex, ‘big-town’ crimes with the resources of small-town cops, and those experiences inspired our mission to bring to life the work of small-town officers from around the country. For seven seasons, we’ve brought awareness to the unique crimes these investigators tackle and the tools they use to solve them.

I’m reaching out because I’d like to see if an officer in the Great Falls PD would be interested in being a guest on our show. If so, I’d also like to see if they’re available for a preliminary and informational call with one of our hosts, Detective Dan, to discuss one or two cases that have stuck with them over the years. We aren’t looking for the high-profile and sensational investigations that make the headlines, but the cases they feel a longstanding personal connection to. In both Dan and Dave's experience, they've realized that policing in a small town has put them in some extraordinary situations, and that exploring these cases with other officers and Yeardley (our outsider perspective) is a benefit to both our police audience and our everyday listeners. For some background, we only use an officer's first name and change the dates, names, and locations within a story to ensure the privacy and safety of those involved.
