Summer Band Concerts
Dear Ms. Rearden, This is a copy of the letter we sent to the Cascade County Health Department, to which they approved.
Dear Dr. Grobe, and Ms. Gardner
The Great Falls Municipal Band intends to begin our 127th consecutive season in the Band Shell at Gibson Park, on June 24th 2020. We will perform each consecutive Wednesday through the summer ending approximately August 19th.
We will NOT perform with a full band but will have smaller ensembles of less than 20. As responsible adults, we will socially distance our musicians, and expect the audience to do the same.
In light of recent Phase 2 restrictions due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, we will apply the following guidelines, and procedures to ensure the safety of our musicians and audience.
1. The stage will have areas marked, 6 feet apart or more as needed, for the musicians to perform and ensure social distancing is provided.
2. Each musician will be responsible for their own music stand, and chair or stool, and sanitize them as needed. They will be expected to have in their possession a bandanna or face mask to be used as necessary. They will be encouraged to have their own hand sanitizer, or wipes. Most wind instruments are not playable while wearing a mask, but musicians are expected to be wearing one on and off the stage or while in close proximity to others.
3. The Municipal Band will provide a large bottle of hand sanitizer at the entrance to the stage for musicians or audience to use as needed.
We will make an announcement periodically reminding the audience of maintaining social distancing guidelines, and to please limit the size of their groups to 50 or less. They will be encouraged to either move to a safe distance, or their cars, if the group seems more than 50.
If our advice is not followed, we will end the concert.
Phil Burton
President Great Falls Municipal Band
