Who is ecoATM?
ecoATM operates a nationwide network of automated kiosks that allow consumers to recycle their used personal electronics (cell phones, MP3 players, and tablets). ecoATM kiosks have numerous security features to prevent the sale of stolen phones; however, on rare occasions the kiosk will take in a device that is later reported stolen. It is our company policy to return such devices to either law enforcement or the rightful owner, free of charge.

Why am I receiving this Written Authorization to Release a Device? ecoATM has information which makes us question whether the person who sold us a device was the rightful owner.Before we release any property to somebody other than the person who transacted with us, we ask the person claiming to be the rightful owner (the “Claimant”) to report the incident to law enforcement. If a device was stolen and then sold to an ecoATM kiosk, we want to be certain that we are both helping the victim and following law enforcement’s instructions.
