DOWNTOWN PARKING METERS

Status: Closed

It was to my dismay when trying to obtain a parking space at noon today 8/21/2019 many were "blocked" off due to a downtown event that does not even start until 5:00 pm. The city is trying to promote downtown business and yet I had to park 3 blocks away to have lunch at the Block? Who has the right to place these signs saying that your car will be towed at your expense if parking there after 11:00 am? I am certainly capable of walking that distance but I were to have had a disabled person or my sister who is in a wheel chair fulltime we would have taken our business to another location. And not DOWNTOWN.

I am a huge promotor of growth in Great Falls, I have been a resident over 28 years but this certainly does not reflect promoting downtown. I feel this needs to be addressed for future events.

Thank you for your concerns related to the concert street closures.  I will be sharing these concerns with Downtown Great Falls Association (DGFA), the Business Improvement District (BID) and the promoters for the concert series (which in fact are downtown business owners, including the owners of the Block restaurant).  A majority of the closure requests downtown are requested by these groups and are discussed and planned through their Boards.  The City is supportive in their mission to bring more people to the downtown.   The contact for DGFA is Kellie Pierce and she can be reached at 453-6151 or Joan Redeen with the BID can be reached at 727-5430.

Thank you again. Krista Artis, City Manager's Office.
