Animal Welfare Check (EMERGENCY)
To whom it may concern,
I am writing this in reference to the welfare of multiple animals located in the Cascade County area. Should I be directing this message to a department that is not responsible for handling anonymous reports of animal abuse and mistreatment then please do get this message in front of someone who can help. I ask to remain anonymous and therefore will not be following up nor will I be responding to any further questions. What I am reporting is true in nature and I only hope that I have done my civil duty in sending this in a timely enough fashion that no animal in question has suffered damages permanent in nature.
There is a man named "Mel Crocket" who claims to have a "Wolf Sanctuary" in Deaborne Montana. By definition, a sanctuary is a place of refuge and safety. To me this was something very honorable and also something I would love to see...until I decided to see it. Were the word sanctuary to be replaced with the word 'prison' then it still wouldn't describe what I saw in only a few minutes.
Upon driving up to the property I was certain this was the wrong place but the GPS is rarely wrong. And that day was not an exception. It looked like a landfill and only because of concern towards the fact that if animals as wild and majestic as the wolf were actually there. Then it simply was not possible that they were in better conditions. Walking up to the home I found multiple IV Syringes on the ground -- let me repeat. In only a handful of steps I found not one but multiple IV Drug Use paraphernalia scattered across the pathway. The smell was of the deceased and to achieve that in the middle of the Dearborn is something I didn't think possible.
I didn't much look in the home but from only a glance to see if someone was available I could see that inside was far far beyond livable. I have little doubt that an inspector would deem the home a hazard to any living creature and even the local wildlife. I went around the house spotting more needles as progressed and the sinking feeling in my stomach proved to be my fears of actual wolves being held in conditions as far from their natural environment as could be.
It takes less than a blink to see each one is malnourished. That they are all bedding in their feces and urine. They may never have had the privilege of bathing and eating food was obviously something that had become a luxury. Worse is the fact that one of natures greatest predators had to sit in a dilapidated environment smack dab in the middle of a habitat they would flourish in. An unparalleled predator forced to stare out at the food it surely would take to the circle of life. And rather than play their role in that circle, they looked more as though they were eating only the idea of food.
I'll leave it at that. I have not returned nor do I intend to. But I can assure you that in only two minutes - the person whose duty is to respond to this request will find themselves disgusted by the nature of this s called "sanctuary" - Below is the information I was able to find in regards to owner and location. Thank you and god bless.
