I recently became aware that there were two city commissioners that recently voted to delay the contract decision that would allow the City Animal Shelter to utilize raised donations for building improvements. As a past employee of the Great Falls Animal Shelter, I am familiar with the history of the decision making process that brought the shelter to where it is today. With that said - Robinson and Moe, it is my understanding that you are meeting with the Great Falls Animal Foundation in private with the hope of forming some kind of partnership between the City and Foundation. Respectively, I would like to remind you that you cannot hope to facilitate any kind of partnership when meeting in secrecy and excluding current City Shelter staff. I can only imagine how furious City Animal Shelter staff are (several who have been involved in this process from the beginning) for your decision to halt their request for construction. Have you spoken to them about their thoughts and feeling in this process? Have you only met with the Great Falls Animal Foundation? How familiar are you with the processes of both facilities? I am certain you are aware of the City Animal Shelter and the Foundation's history and attempt at a partnership in the past. I feel strongly that your decisions at trying to work with the Foundation on a possible partnership are not in the best interest of the animals, staff, or Great Falls Citizens. Also, Robinson, considering your involvement and history with the Foundation, I would ask why you did not recuse yourself from voting on such an issue? There is an obvious conflict of interest in this situation - and dare I say ulterior motive. Needless to say - I am very disappointed in the lack of transparency (specifically with Robinson and Moe) and obvious conflict of interest. Are you aware of the number of people in the community who have donated funds for the H.U.G. project? The City Staff have poured their hearts and souls into this project and you have insulted them with your selfish decisions. What you want between the two organizations is NOT what the citizens of Great Falls want. I hope that you have received numerous letters and calls expressing this. Additionally, you did not go about your efforts of a partnership the right way. In fact, your secret meetings and lack of transparency on this issue has only created division. I don't think you have any hope of correcting the errors you have done.
