Illegal parking

The past several months a neighbor on 36th Ave Ne has his pull camper, boat and utility trailer parked on the street along with 3-5 vehicles. Turning from 33rd B ave. Ne is almost impossible to see around his “car lot”. I know we have complained before and he will park his boat on his lawn and move his trailers around the corner for a week or 2, but eventually it all returns. Apparently he has a son who works for the city as I was told when I confronted him that there is nothing than legally can be done. 825 36th Ave NE . Dowell is the last name

Mr. Sneed, I am sorry, but we do not take police reports via this forum. Please call Dispatch (406-727-7688, Option 5) and file your complaint. They will start a case number and it will go though the established process in order for our JAVA (Junk/Abandoned Vehicle Abatement) Unit to address the issue. The dispatcher will want to know the address it is parked in front of, as well as the color, type of camper (RV, pull, slide-in), make, and license plate if available. They will also want to know if the vehicle looks operable (flat tires, engine missing, etc).

Your complaint goes into a queue, then goes through a tagging and waiting period (sometimes two, depending on the nature of it), and certified letter to the owner before it can be towed away as an abandoned vehicle. This gives the owner fair notice to resolve the issue before their vehicle gets seized.

We handle about 900 such complaints per year, so please be patient. Thank you.
