Hi, my name is Doug Stipcich. I am the acting president of the Bestview Subdivision Home Owners Association. As I am sure the department is aware, this subdivision is located 1/4 of a mile south of the city limits heading east from the corner of 24th Ave South and 26th St south and then south on 29th St south to 33rd ave south back west along 33rd Ave south to 26th St south and then north on 26th St south back to the point of origin.

Our current fire protection comes from the Sand Coulee Volunteer fire department, but as everyone knows, they do a great job, but sometimes the need is greater than what they can provide. Thus the request to be able to speak with someone from the fire department about the possibility of us entering into a contract to have the GFFD provide such protection. Had this been put into place several years ago, it is likely that the home that burned out there on the corner of 29th St south and 33rd Ave South would have been spared. The Sand Coulee fire department ran out of water while they were doing their thing and thus the property ended up becoming a total loss.

If this message can be forwarded to the correct individual that I would need to talk to about this so they can contact me, that would be great. I know that from past conversations with the homeowners that are members of the HOA, this is something they would definitely be interested in getting accomplished. There are like 5 or 6 properties out there that are not members of the HOA, but if this is something we can work on, I'd be willing to visit with each and every one of them about this if there is a decent chance we can make this happen. If it is totally unrealistic, I would appreciate knowing that as well so I can inform the HOA members that I did inquire about this.
