Sink Hole - 521 6th Ave South (Alley Way)

Status: Closed

Good Afternoon from the UK,
I was contacted recently from my Renter that a sink hole has formed in the alley way between my home and the neighbors on the (North) other side.
Apparently some tests were done, but I have not seen any official results from the city, on why the sink hole has formed.
I've viewed some GF city codes, and it seems to be quite the gray area on who's responsibility it is to fix the sink hole, especially if we don't fully understand what is causing it.
I've been told the Sewer Lines are buried 10-12 ft below grade?

Just looking for clarity on this issue, and would like to get it fixed asap...regardless of who pays the bill. Know the city and residents are at risk for an issue like this. There are also lots of children that play in the vicinity of the sink hole.

Per our Foreman, Chris Calvert, the connection of the sewer service lines to the City main from 520 5th Avenue South and 521 6th Avenue South have separations.  This is causing the sink hole.  It is the responsibility of both property owners to hire a contractor to have the services dug up in the alley and repaired.

City Code:

13.16.060 - Building sewer-maintenance, repair or replacement—person responsible.

It is the responsibility of the owner of the property being served by a building sewer to maintain, in working order, the building sewer from the building drain to the public sewer. Repair and replacement of building sewer shall be the property owner's responsibility. All repair and replacement must be performed by a properly licensed plumber or drain layer. All costs and expenses incidental to maintenance, repair or replacement of the building sewer shall be paid by owner(s).

Thank you for bringing this to our attention!  I will have one of our Foremen go and investigate to see what is creating this sinkhole.  I will update you as soon as possible.
