What does the city do with the wood from trimmed trees? Are residents allowed to remove downed limbs for firewood?
Thank you,
Jeremy

Hi Jeremy,
The Forestry Division from the Park and Recreation Department is responsible for dealing with the trees in the Boulevard District of Great Falls and in all the City parks. Forestry will chip the wood down as much as possible. Then whatever logs, that are too large for chipping, and the chipped wood are taken to the compost site. Residents are only allowed to remove downed limbs that are located on their property or are on the right away that adjoins your property; unless you live in the Boulevard District. If you are interested in the compost chips please give us a call at the Park and Recreation Department at 771-1265.
Have a great day!
Sarah
