Sidewalk and curb damages

Hello I am not sure if anyone is aware of the damages that have occurred from the last 2 incidents of water flooding on this block. The first incident was when we had the extremely heavy rainfall last summer. The storm drain did not keep up and water rose all the way up my grass hill and steps in front of my property. It backed up so far that it pushed dirt and mud up thru the cracks in the walk and curb. Then things started to settle and crack. I called and received no reply. Now when we had the sub-zero cold front last week the bulk water fill station broke and flooded the street thru the night. I once again had water and ice backed up to my steps. The ice was so thick there was no way of clearing it. It ended up having 2 road graders come by to try to get it off the street. Now all the ice finally has came off the walk after hours of going out with a scrapper to chip away at it. There is alot of damage between the lifting and sinking from all of this. The storm drain has had re-bar sticking out or the curb side since I bought my house almost 4 years ago making it dangerous to pull up to the curb without ripping a tire apart. Hopefully someone can address these issues if I not feel it to be my responsibility to repair damages caused by water fill station, ice or the storm drain backing up but believe this is only going to get worse as time goes on. Thank you.

Good Morning Mr. Barry

Concerning the flooding of the street by the broken water fill station.  You will need to speak with the owner of the fill station, as they are responsible for any damage that may have  occurred from that incident.

I will however send out a concrete inspector to check the status of the curb and the exposed rebar.  City code 12.28.130 states that it is the owners responsibility to keep the concrete adjoining their property in good condition no matter what the cause of the damage.

I have left a voice mail for you on your phone, please return my call and we can discuss the options that you have.

Thank you,

Kari Wambach
