Business Licenses / Safety Inspection Certificates Question
Good Afternoon,
I'm writing on behalf of T-Mobile, as their authorized agent, to determine whether or not T-Mobile will need a business licenses/safety inspection certificate for their new retail location in the city of Great Falls. The store will be owned and operated by a T-Mobile authorized dealer, and consequently the lease, occupancy permits, and store employees are managed by the dealer. However, T-Mobile will own the inventory and report the revenue/gross receipts in the city by selling such inventory and additional services. In addition, there will be three T-Mobile entities operating at the same location and collecting revenue and remitting any applicable taxes. The entities and their activities are as follows:
1) T-Mobile West LLC – sells equipment to customers who choose to purchase outright.
2) T-Mobile Financial – allows customers to enter into retail installment sales agreements and other similar arrangements for wireless equipment and accessories.
3) T-Mobile Leasing – allows customers to enter into consumer leases and other similar arrangements for wireless equipment and accessories
Would T-Mobile be required to obtain a license since they are generating revenue and remitting applicable taxes, but not occupying the location in the city? If so, would a license be required for each entity as described above?
Thank you,
