The City Commission was provided Chae Buchholz' and Director Raymond's response 3/15/2021:

Hello Chae, thank you for your input regarding the downtown parking program. We definitely understand and can appreciate that cost is a factor for many people in our community when it comes to parking. We have looked at numerous ways to keep the price of parking to a minimum and still maintain a viable program. Essentially, the parking program is a self-funded program that does not normally receive financial support from the general fund or any other fund. All of the money from the parking program stays in the program, it is not spent in other departments for other functions. Short of receiving funding from outside of the program, I don’t know how we could lower the cost and still maintain an enforcement program.
