Dear Devon, we have hundreds of citizens ride along with patrol officers each year; there are several ways to go about this. High school students have the opportunity through formal Law Related Education ("Street Law") classes, as well as high school job shadows. Adults can apply to become volunteers with the agency (https://greatfallsmt.net/police/volunteer-program) or apply to attend our Citizens Academy (https://greatfallsmt.net/police/great-falls-police-department-citizens-academy) or complete a GFPD internship as part of getting a Criminal Justice degree at the University of Great Falls.

All of these programs afford ride-along opportunities - as a matter of fact, the Citizens Academy is accepting applications right now for the upcoming spring academy.

Due to the tremendous amount of riders generated through these programs, we do not generally accept additional riders, but sometimes we have also seen riders come through as part of the Leadership Great Falls and Leadership High School programs.

I hope you are able to take advantage of one of these opportunities!
