Overnight Shooting Incident
For Immediate Release
GREAT FALLS, Montana – Last night (4/9/25), at approximately 8:40pm, 911 dispatchers received multiple calls from community members reporting hearing sounds like gunshots coming from the vicinity of 11th St S and 4th Ave S. Officers were dispatched to investigate.
Officers investigated the incident for several hours, including flying a drone over the area, gathering evidence, and interviewing witnesses and those involved. Cascade County Sheriff’s Office deputies assisted in the incident by searching for two juveniles reported to be associated with the shooting.
Officers confirmed a 16 year-old male sustained a minor injury, believed to be from a bullet, to a foot. The victim received care at Benefis Emergency Department and was released. Officers also located two vehicles with fresh damage consistent with having been struck by a bullet.
The parties involved have been identified; and we believe this to be an isolated incident and not a random act of violence. The investigation, to this point, has revealed it is likely a conflict occurred within a group of juveniles familiar to each other.
The incident remains under investigation. Community members may notice an increased law enforcement presence in the area of the incident throughout today (4/10/25), as patrol officers and detectives continue to gather information.
We understand an incident of this nature can be alarming. Due to the age of those involved, we do not plan to release any further information regarding this investigation. We appreciate the community’s support and patience as we work to bring closure to the investigation.
