GREAT FALLS, Montana – Just after 8:00 am this morning, Thursday October 12th, the Great Falls Police Department and members of the Russel Country Drug Task Force (RCDTF) began serving several arrest warrants. As of 3:45 pm today, ten (10) persons have been arrested on outstanding warrants.
These arrest warrants are directly related to a long-term narcotics investigation with joint efforts between member agencies within the RCDTF, along with the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and United States Marshals Service. At this time this case is being handled by the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Montana. We will be deferring to their office for future comments on the investigation.
On a daily basis, the RCDTF works diligently to stop the flow of illegal narcotics into Great Falls and surrounding communities. Many of the RCDTF investigations cover vast regions throughout Montana and other states as well. The RCDTF often partners with other Rocky Mountain High Intensity Drug Trafficking area Task Forces to have a deeper impact on illegal narcotics distribution, as these cases frequently cross through jurisdictional boundaries.
The Russell Country Drug Task Force (RCDTF) is part of the Rocky Mountain High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (RMHIDTA). The RCDTF, is staffed and directed by the Great Falls Police Department, and is comprised of members of the Cascade County Sheriff’s Office, Montana Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation, and U.S. Federal agencies, Drug Enforcement Administration, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Homeland Security Investigations, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The RCDTF is directly supported by the Montana Army National Guard Counter Drug Program as well as legal support from the Cascade County Attorney’s Office and United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Montana.
