To Whom this may Concern:

Hello, my name is Maria Marianacci, and I am writing this letter in hopes to compile a one-of-a-kind gift, for my one-of-a-kind boyfriend, Joseph. Later this year, we will be celebrating our 5-year anniversary…we started dating in high school in 2012.

My Joe is the epitome of what it means to be a giving, selfless person. The day he turned sixteen, he wasn’t the least bit concerned about driving like most other sixteen year olds are, but was ecstatic to be able to join the local fire company as a junior member, and it was a day he counted down for from when he turned fifteen! Having since being involved with multiple fire companies now for so long, he holds the position of Captain, and cannot uphold his duties any better if he tried. He went to our local community college for Criminal Justice, and is now a Correctional Officer at the County Prison. Joe doesn’t just have a passion for criminal justice, he has a passion for human service. Serving to protect those in danger when they cannot protect themselves is what he was born to do. From the day he was born, his father, a police officer, taught him to give to others as you would want given unto you. Being the fifth of seven children, he learned many values of being patient, loving, forgiving, and supportive. Just a few weeks ago, when our state was crippled by a blizzard that dumped two feet of snow within 24 hours, he spent every waking moment that he was not working at the prison, volunteering with the joint efforts of many local fire departments to respond to the calls of those in need in very treacherous conditions without hesitation.

Joe has a collection of patches from all different types of local law enforcement and service divisions. From small town and borough police departments, to prisons, to fire and ambulance companies, he collects them all and has scrapbooks filled with them. This year, for our milestone 5-year anniversary, I want to stretch that to a bigger scale! While I am setting my hopes high, I am not giving up…I want to collect a Police, Fire, EMS, or Prison patch from each of the fifty states! I plan to have them all either framed or in a scrapbook of their own – one on every page. If there is anything I can do to acquire one of your state/department patches, I would forever be indebted to you. If and when this whole project is completed, I hope to share this touching story with our local news media stations to show my many thanks and appreciation to everyone that made this meaningful mission possible.

Thank you all for your services, and God Bless.
