Civic Center Meeting Rooms
Program Description
The Great Falls Civic Center has three meeting rooms (the Commission Chamber, the Missouri Room, and the Gibson Room) which host public and private functions yearlong. Currently, the Commission Chamber and Gibson Rooms have limited virtual capacity. Meeting video may be broadcasted online, digital calls are received, but that is the current limit. The Missouri Room has no virtual capacity at this time. This project would improve current hardware and software installations that would allow for a more seamless virtual meeting environment.
Why this matters
While there is clearly momentum for face to face meetings to return, it is also undeniable that virtual meetings and videoconferencing have achieved a foothold in modern communication. Whether it be gathering attendees from wide spread communities, separation due to medical restrictions, or simply a personal preference to attend meetings from home, there is a clear need to maintain the capacity to host virtual meetings in today's world. The Civic Center is meant to be a location for gatherings and meetings of all kinds. As a result, maintaining it's ability to host any and all types of gatherings should be a priority for City operations.
How is this eligible?
This project would be classified as an eligible response to the public health needs and negative impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. Treasury maintains that expenses and capital projects that include technology infrastructure investments to adapt government operations to the pandemic, reduce government backlogs, or other related programs are eligible. This project would allow the City to adapt Civic Center meeting rooms seamlessly to virtual meeting and videoconferencing environments.
Status Updates
City staff are working with local vendors to receive quotes for the necessary hardware and software upgrades, as well as the integration of those systems. Work is expected to be completed in Spring/Summer 2023.
Due to rising costs, this project has been put on hold .
