I'm very honored to lead the men and women of the Great Falls Police Department and know that each and every one of our employees are prepared and willing to serve our Community because they are proud to be a part of it.  I know they provide the needed Compassion to serve our citizens and visitors, and they are expected to always have the Courage to do what is necessary and right.

About Chief Newton

Chief Newton was appointed to lead the Great Falls Police Department as Chief of Police on April 26, 2021.  Chief Newton began his career with the Great Falls Police Department in 1999.  Prior to coming to the Great Falls Police Department he previously served in law enforcement for six years. Chief Newton holds a Bachelors degree from Montana State University where he was also a Student Athlete.  He also holds a Masters degree from The University of Great Falls. 

During his tenure, he rose through the ranks, having served in the Patrol, Investigations and Support Services Bureaus.   He has served in multiple roles within the Great Falls Police Department.  Chief Newton was promoted to Captain in 2012 where led the Patrol Bureau.  Since 2012, he has also led the Support Services Bureau and most recently the Investigations Bureau.

Chief Newton is a graduate of the 255th Session of the FBI National Academy and has also attended the FBI Intermountain Command College.
