Investigative Services Bureau

The Investigative Services Bureau is directed by Captain Rob Moccasin who was promoted to the rank of Captain in 2015 and assigned to lead the Bureau in 2021.  Captain Moccasin has previously served as Captain of the Patrol Services Bureau and the Support Services Bureau.  Captain Moccasin is a 29 year Veteran of the Great Falls Police Department and has a total of 34 years of Law Enforcement Experience.  He is also a 2015 graduate of the F.B.I. National Academy, Session #261.       

When fully staffed the Investigative Services Bureau consists of 1 Full Time civilian employee, and 22 sworn officers. Bureau personnel consists of; one Lieutenant, three sergeants, eighteen investigators and one administrative employee

While the Investigative Services Bureau is responsible for many different functions, its primary responsibilities include investigating most felony criminal investigations requiring follow up, as well as undercover investigations involving vice, narcotics, HIDTA, and organized crime. Investigations are conducted to produce evidence supporting the guilt or innocence of any suspected person and to recover property.

The Investigative Services Bureau has specialized teams of Investigators that work specific types of crimes.  General Case investigators, who work most felony type crimes to include death investigations.  Special Victims Unit that includes investigators that investigate sexual crimes/crimes against children the Violent Offender Registration Program, and Internet Crimes against Children. The teams also include School Resource Detectives and the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force.  All Investigators receive specialized training that relate to their respective assignments and specialized equipment utilized.
