Extra Pick-up:

     96 Gallon: $16.50

Yard waste:

Yard waste (grass clippings, leaves) should not be placed in the container.  Please bag items and place 4' away from your residential container on your scheduled collection day.

Tree branches:

Tree branches should be cut into 4' lengths and tied/bundled or put in a box and placed 4' away from your residential container on your scheduled collection day.

"White Goods" -- Refrigerator/air conditioner/household appliance disposal:

White goods such as washers, dryers, hot water tanks and other appliances may be disposed of by calling to make arrangements for pick up. There will be a charge of $22.00 (billed separately) for disposal of these items.

Refrigerators, air conditioning units and freezers may be picked up and CFC's removed for a disposal charge of $66.00 (billed separately) for each unit disposed of.

Alley Access Container Placement:

Containers are placed on one side of the alley and are for use by 2 to 3 families per container.  However, any City container in the alley may be used by the residents of that alley that are on City Sanitation Service.

Container Repair:

To report a damaged container or lid, please contact the Sanitation Division Office at 406-771-1401.

Items that should not be placed in container:

Do not place bulky items, yard waste, propane bottles/containers or liquids such as paint and other solvents in the containers.

  • Paints may be dried out by mixing with sand or kitty litter, let dry, bag and place into regular container.
  • Propane bottles/containers can be disposed of at Breen Oil Company, 1201 3rd St. N.W.  406-453-4104

Extra Items:

Large accumulation of material placed for collection may be charged to the customer at $8.00 per minute if it takes longer than 2 minutes to load the material.

No Alley Access Container Placement:

Push the container out to the edge of the curb away from obstructions such as parked vehicles, fences or mailboxes. The opening of the container should face the street with the handle of the container facing toward your property.

Extra Items:

Bulky items and sacks of leaves or grass, should be placed near the curb, 2-3 feet away from your residential container on your scheduled collection day.  A separate truck called a "brush truck" will pick up your extra items on your scheduled collection day.  Large accumulation of material placed for collection may be charged to the customer at $8.00 per minute if it takes longer than 2 minutes to load the material.

THE SOLID WASTE DIVISION REQUESTS THAT HOT ASHES NOT BE PUT DIRECTLY IN THE CONTAINERS. PLEASE WET ASHES DOWN AND PUT IN A SEPARATE METAL CONTAINER THAT CAN BE THROWN AWAY.

What Time Should My Rollout Container Be Out?

Containers may be placed out for collection after 6:00 p.m. the evening before collection, but no later than 7:00 a.m. on collection day.  After the container is emptied it must be removed from the public right-of-way until the next scheduled collection period.  Days of service vary depending on what area of town you live in.  To verify your collection day please give the Sanitation Office a call at 406-771-1401.  IF IN DOUBT, PUT IT OUT!
